Joe LaMantia with his pride and joy - daughter Amanda.  Oh yes, and the plane is a Modelbau Tornado jet.  It has a RAM 500 engine developing 12 lbs of thrust.

The plane weighs 18 lbs.  What a sound!  The first jet powered model flown at the field.

Harry Jenkin with the Little Wing.  Originally owned by Jam, it proved too wild for him so he gave it to Harry.  .32 engine with tuned pipe.  A real speed demon.

Harry thought the Little Wing was so much fun he built the Big Wing.  .90 size engine.

The Big Wing's pilot is from Mars.

The Ocean County Modelers club (OCM) is primarily centered around all aspects of radio control (r/c) model airplanes. Over 100 members build and fly a variety of r/c planes including helicopters, trainers, sport, aerobatics, scale, giant scale, racing, ducted fan, gliders and electric.  Ocean County Modelers is an AMA chartered club (Academy of Model Aeronautics), number 775.  Our club is receptive to accepting new members in the local region.

OCM Club's Current, and now, MAIN Flying Site:

OCM has recently made special arrangements with Jackson Township in New Jersey to allow club-only members to fly at one of their now-closed garbage dump sites.  This flying site is called the Ocean County Modelers Air Park Wiskow Field OCM first created a small grass runway, 350 feet long by 50 feet wide of grass plus a continuing 100 feet of smooth surface for small wheels & electric airplanes, all of which sits on top of a layer of wood chips.  The wood chip layer sits on top of the sand, which also surrounds the runway and over-fly zone.  The over-fly-zone is a very large, clear area for flying r/c model airplanes.  OCM has started efforts to expand the existing runway.
OCM has proven to the Jackson Township officials that r/c model flying at this site falls well below the maximum sound ordinance restrictions of the local community.  In order to maintain adherence and stay below the maximum sound restrictions, OCM imposes a sound restriction level of  98 Db measured 9 feet downwind from the propeller with the engine(s) at full throttle on all r/c model aircraft at this flying site.

Note from our current field maintenance coordinator::  when most field maintenance is scheduled at this site, it does not mean the field will be closed to flying unless stated it will be.
Work will typically be done prior to 9am, unless otherwise stated.
If you are interested in flying at this site, please contact one of our members to make arrangements to meet with us, see this flying site, and apply for club membership.
